What?

Compresses your main public javascript file, using uglifyjs and the uglifier gem when you save your source file.

Use

if you haven't already gem install uglifier
then gem install guard-uglify
in your project's directory root
guard init
guard init uglify

which will add this to your Guardfile

guard 'uglify', :input => 'app/assets/javascript/application.js', :output => "public/javascripts/application.js" do
  watch 'app/assets/javascripts/application.js'
end

The destination file will be compressed when the watched file changes. If you are using this with my guard-sprocketize gem, place the above guard block after the sprockets block in your Guardfile.

The base configuration would work for a rails 3 project with a directory structure like

|   |       `-- application.js # your source javascript file 
|   |-- helpers
|   |-- mailers
|   |-- models
|   `-- views
|       `-- layouts

    `-- javascripts
