After flashing STM32F7X2 4.2.8 to iFlight_F722_TwinG, it will not ask to apply custom defaults causing multiple issues

I'm sorry but I've never had a problem with this, I always have to ask if everything is done correctly.

I followed along to Bardwell's video, and it shows flashing to the generic board name and not the normal one I would use. Is this the correct way to do it?

Not sure..
What you should do:
Download the Firmware from the Git.
Choose the Board from the Drop down menu
Use "load firmware local" and choose the correct FC version from the file you downloaded. (F4,F7 etc.)
Flash firmware.
So the generic DJI patched firmware will be flashed with the specific board settings to your FC, which you have choosen in the dropdown menu.
