Adding a flag to place the LQ value into the RSSI field would be amazing and many crossfire pilots will call you a hero ;-)
I know you mentioned it already (#1 (comment)) but tracking it separately makes sense I think.

You need to use the analogue hole- push LQ out on a spare channel from the RX and then set that channel to read RSSI in betaFlight - then you can use the RSSI OSD element but in fact see the LQ value in that. Problem is that it's analogue value, so less precise doesn't show the crossfire speed you're running in, only a 0-99 range.
