Sorry for the late comment. A keystroke is what follows when you press any key on your keyboard. When simulating keystrokes, you make the computer believe someone has actually pressed a key without pressing it manually. Simulated keystrokes will be handled just like normal manual input.

A concrete example:
Pressing "Q" on your keyboard is a keystroke.
