Placing the switch upside down in the Base enables it to function as a soldering jig. Carefully describing which side the wires should come out of should help with alignment as well. Soldering the switch upside down should also utilize gravity to prevent too much solder on the bottom of the switch lugs which can interfere with switch installation.
