Can I use the nRF52840 M.2 Developer Kit with nRFConnect SDK?

How do I get nrfconnect in VS to compile code for the M.2 kit? I'm struggling to get any code running because I'm missing "boards.h" from your examples and I don't see the M2 kit listed on the board options in nRF Connect.

There are two ways to proceed - one is to use the board files from GIT repository, moving all pin definitions to a "pin control" clause/file.
But I found that much easier to compile for "nrf52840_nrf52940dk" target, with the overlay rearranging flash structure according to given in fstab_stock.dts:
