This problem was discovered in a survey with a "map" -type question, couldn't at least get it to show on a proposal. Error is pretty varied, so far haven't been able to consistantly get it to show. Unlike told in the issue from RGEO -community the error cannot be repeated by drawing a "bowtie" -like polygon.
I could repeat the error pretty constantly using a survey with map -type questions. Just for documentation I will list the specs of the survey here:

Question 2: Non-mandatory with single shape. Answered: 1 point
Second page
Question 3: Mandatory with multiple shapes. Answered: 1 point/marker & 1 polygon
After submitting the form I got an error: "LinearRings must have + or >= 4 points"
