hyprland

collection of dot config files for hyprland with a simple install script for a fresh Arch linux with yay

Disclaimer

The hyprland.knsv file contains most of the actual config files and is used with Konsave program to easily apply and save configuration. But if you want to just take a look at the config, without aplying it to your machine, you can unpack it with standard zip utilities, like: unzip hyprland.knsv.

Instruction

  1. First, install arch using archinstall script, using minimal config
  2. Make sure that the internet is connected and install git sudo pacman -S git
  3. Clone this repo somewhere in the home dir: git clone https://github.com/lzieniew/hyprland
  4. [Optional] - arch by default downloads only one package at the time, to make installation faster uncomment the #ParallelDownloads = 5 line. You can also increase the actual number to 10 for example
  5. Go to the cloned repo and run ./install.sh

For nvidia CUDA support:

sudo pacman -S nvidia nvidia-utils
nvidia-smi # check if it works
# additional steps needed, probably steps from hyprland wiki about nvidia support
# probably it will be something with nvidia-dkms

There are also some annoying things in firefox that I fix with those settings:

  • scrolling through suggestions is interrupted by focusing three dots button: go to about:config -> browser.urlbar.resultMenu.keyboardAccessible -> set to off
  • search suggestions are above suggestions from history: settings -> unttick Show search suggestions in address bar results
  • show tabs even in fullscreen (useful with WM): about:config -> browser.fullscreen.autohide -> set to off
Also in Firefox, in Vimium plugin I add those custom key mappings in options
# Insert your preferred key mappings here.
map S LinkHints.activateMode action=hover

unmap J
unmap K
unmap H
unmap L
map J goBack
map K goForward
map H previousTab
map L nextTab
