error message when using Probe Raster tool #43
Comments
Hi Yhan,
Many thanks for reporting this.
Would you be willing to share your project, so I can reproduce the error?
If you have a Mergin Maps [1] account, please share it with either
`support` or `rpasiok` user.
Thanks!

This message shows up when I use probe raster tool to pick a pixel in an
DEM. After this message pops up, surprisingly, all other commands don't
work anymore.

hi, I shared the file with you thru merginmaps.com - WBT BC Basins.tif. It
is just a sample raster file which I used to play around with Serval. Thanks.
BTW, after the error message shows up, try to create a new empty shapefile in the same projection of the raster file. Then everything is back to normal and working again. I can not explain the reasoning, just an observation.

Many thanks for sharing the project. Could you please make sure your raster file is located in the Mergin Maps project folder and added to the project? You can then synchronise your project with the service. Kind regards, Radek Pasiok |
Ah, sorry - my bad - it is all there! Please ignore previous message :-) |
I set up the option of using CRS from first layer added so my project CRS is
the same as the file CRS which is EPSG26917.
Here is how to repeat the problem: open QGIS or open a new project by clicking
the blank white sheet icon, drag the tif file to Canvas, pick up the probe
raster icon of Serval and click anywhere in the raster, and the error msg will appear. At this moment, not
only the probe raster tool does not work, but also other Serval tools.
Per my testing, to make Serval work again, after the error message pops up,
close it and then add a google road map from QuickMapService plugin or try
to create a new empty shapefile; now click probe raster again, or do
selection/value changes, for no reason everything works!

I can't reproduce it. What is your QGIS version? Also, could you let us
know what was your project CRS and default transformation for the raster?

This message shows up when I use probe raster tool to pick a pixel in an DEM. After this message pops up, surprisingly, all other commands don't work anymore.
The DEM is in EPSG 26917, but it appears from time to time the plugin is trying to converting it to EPSG 4326 or gets confused about it with EPSG 4326, and that's when the error message pops up.
The error message is really random, which makes the plugin work at certain moment, but then stops working later, and it can then go back to work again.
