There are no icons for Sega NAOMI and Sammy Atomiswave.

We can add the icons for NAOMI, Atomiswave, Hikaru, Chihiro, Lindbergh, but the default RetroArch system and UI will not recognize them by default. I put in some Capcom CP System icons a while back, but they remain as easter eggs or in the hope that they might be used some day. I've heard of people creating their own custom playlists with such icons, but it's never anything I've tried to do personally.

Neo Geo is actually a very unique situation. My understanding is that even though MVS and AES have different pinout configurations, their ROMs are identical. The System's BIOS is what actually determines how to differentiate how a ROM should act, including Region and whether it's considered an AES or MVS cartridge.

The possibility of rolling out an Neo Geo database has been requested. That would hypothetically separate Neo Geo from the MAME/FBNeo databases, treating it as its own system and using icons that have already been created. I'm not sure if it will ever come to fruition, but it is a possibility in the future.

It would be kinda cool if you could add them in as Easter eggs maybe.

I was thinking of asking something similar for a while, then I saw this thread.

I was wondering if it would be possible to add "generic" Arcade and PC playlists and icons. I group MAME and FBNeo games together in one playlist (except Neo Geo games, where I have a separate AES playlist), and DOS/ScummVM/id Tech games are in another. These are currently using the FBNeo and DOS icons, but it doesn't sit right with me.

It would be nice to be able to treat these as systems rather than emulators and engines, the same way consoles are treated.

@robwill80 Personally, I'm with you. I'd love to have an "Arcade" and a "PC" database and treat MAME, FBNeo and DOSbox as cores for their respective systems. I believe Neo Geo should be its own database where you'd select your core there as well. It's how all the other systems are treated, so it would be good to be consistent.

@RobLoach What are the possibilities and probabilities of making something like this happen?

@baxysquare Thanks for the support.

I'll add that I'd be happy enough with just some new icons for these in the RetroArch assets folder. I write my playlists manually, so I don't use any databases for scanning.

I would've attempted to make some custom icons by myself, but I wouldn't be able to use them on Android devices, as I can't access the assets folder there.

Incidentally, I added a "Sammy - Atomiswave" icon and a "Sega - Chihiro" to Systematic in #455. NAOMI is still on my to-do list.

The Naomi icons for Systematic theme are in PR #463.
