When trying to load roms from mass storage devices, retroarch will return to retroarch menu. When loading roms from memory card, it works as expected.
It expected that Retroarch would load content from mass storage devices.
When trying to load roms from mass storage devices, retroarch will return to retroarch menu.
I didn't try any other version before 1.10.0, but this version and all later version has the same behavior.

Are you using usb flash drive, or usb hdd ?

I'm using a flash drive (Sandisk SDCZ60-032G 32GB). I also tried with a 4GB thumb drive (but I don't know the model or manufacturer of this).
The same problem happens with some of my devices, as I reported here PS2 RetroArch does not start connected to HUB device
