Setup:
Manjaro Linux
ibus-libpinyin 1.15.4

When typing a letter (e.g. "n") and afterwards an Umlaut (like "ä", "ö","ü" (keyboard has German layout) ), the umlaut character will be repeated indefinitely in front of the chinese character selection candidate. (see attached video)

Could you try ibus-libpinyin 1.15.8 ?
