Switching cosmethics in the tinkering table crashes the game

Java version: jdk java 8 runtime
Minecraft Forge version: forge-1.16.5-36.2.34

When opening the cosmetics tab in the tinkering table and deselecting the "default armor skin" and "citizen joe armor skin" the armor appears in black and pink (i am guessing it means a missing texture) and when trying to select the blue color square the game crashes. When i try to log back into the world the game crashes as soon as i try to view the player model (for example by opening my inventory)

To Reproduce*
Equip Powersuit Armor
Open tinkering table
Deselect "default armor skin" and "citizen joe armor skin"
The 3D armor with missing texture should appear
Click the blue box for color

Unfortunately, I'm unable to reproduce the issue.

I'm having the same problem. I can't play anymore - every time I press E to bring up the inventory, or use the tinker table and click on the Visual tab, the instance crashes. Playing on FTB Anniversary Edition
