The game is most likely using double buffering in AWT, which is known to be not working.

leaningtech/cheerpj-meta#100

At this time we are not prioritizing bug fixes on the current version of CheerpJ (2.x) since all the development effort is on the future CheerpJ 3.0. CheerpJ 3.0 will have a completely new architecture that will make it easier to fix problems like this.

I'll keep this bug open as a test case.
