Agenda for Technical Advisory Group meeting

Participation at this meeting is by invitation only.

Date: July 19, 2017, 11am-1pm PDT

Slides are posted at https://github.com/lbl-srg/obc/tree/master/meetings/2017-07-tag

See below agenda for dial-in information.

Agenda items

  1. Status update: Upcoming deadlines, see https://github.com/lbl-srg/obc/wiki/2017-07-tag-next-steps
  2. CDL: Need review and control vendor input.
  3. G36 implementation: Need review.
  4. Case study. Need a team member to identify building and contribute to study. For this case study, need to work on secondary system only. A small system in terms of number of control loops, and a small building would be best suited. The system should be well documented. We like to share results from the case study in the open literature (the building could be made anonymous if needed). (Primary system and facade will come later.)

CDL basic blocks library

Expert Validation

Obtained feedback from ALC Asked Paul for feedback from other vendors Mark offered to reach out, Brent as well. The team went back to this issue and discussed options for cases where vendor language has a) extra blocks, b) lacks our blocks. C code for the execution - discuss with an expert [Jon, Jay might be able to suggest someone]. Workshop in August?

How to document them - any format.

Basic blocks composed of other basic blocks - no comments

Conditional removal of blocks and inputs

Brent suggests a list of questions that essentially define the value of the boolean parameter. He also suggests to avoid adding separate sequences. Paul agrees.

Extend that functionality to include possibility of adding elements, such as humidifier, which are not in G36.

Retrieve zone state signal: Zone level decision informs the system (ALC). Usually deterministic, based on schedule.

Numerical accuracy: CLD does not implement it. Noone voiced a complaint.

Next steps: collect feedback from control vendors by September 15

Sequences Implementation

Expert Validation

Validation and review on the level of atomic and composite sequences: does the sequence perform as expected. Mark might be able to provide feedback.

Using PPR1

Structure of sequences Brent: Generic thermal zones, Hold on minimal ventilation logic - might be modifying.

Meeting with developers and key partners to obtain guidance on which parts of the guideline to cover (scoping meeting) - Brent suggested Integral offices for the meeting. Jianjun offered to make a doodle.

Deadlines: Mid September - release a first version of the library

Follow-up items

CDL meeting G36 sequences meeting

Upcoming milestones

Performance assessment: Real building for a case study, ideally multizone - we’d model the AHU and use G36 sequences [modelica implementation].

Follow-up with Steve and Brent to identify an example
