I was trying to build the SPI version of U-Boot according to wiki which recommends using this repo. But got the "Increase CONFIG_SYS_U_BOOT_OFFS!" error fixed in commit u-boot@7a14722.

I compiled on the Helios4 directly (but using Archlinux latest image, not Armbian), so no cross compiler. I just applied u-boot@7a14722 patch to the helios4 branch and got it to work: I can now boot directly from SATA1 without any sdcard.
