The Readme says react native kvideo is based on react native video. But it doesn't explicitly state the purpose of its existence.

What features are missing from react native video that this repo makes possible?

This repo is a custom video controller component of react-native-video, and I only take the parts that I need to make the controller work, but if you have suggestions or other things you need you can send PR
