Instead of wiring some pin to GND.

What about to put a flag (1 bytes) somewhere in flash memory? The flash can be written or read by REPL command as below:

> .runboot
Run on boot: OFF

> .runboot on
Run on boot: ON

> .runboot off
Run on boot: OFF
``
