Fonts disappear when reopening, but reappear if a showing font is moved in the view

I don't really know how to describe this in any other way, but it's been happening for a long time. Right now I had 13 fonts lined up and I saved and quit. When I opened FontGoggles only 6 fonts were showing and the others just don't seem to exist until I drag one of the showing fonts and suddenly the missing fonts show up again in the position they were in originally. I can't think of anything I could have done to make this happen, but it happens all the time in horiztonal or vertical mode.
