Feature description

Is it possible to have a situation where the Spotlight spinner toggle can be placed under "Sort by" when selecting Spotlight widgets, this will mean some Spotlight widgets will have the spinner and some wouldn't.

Why is this feature needed? Please justify and explain.

There are some Spotlight widgets in some of my hubs that I'll like to be able to rotate while some in others that I'll prefer not rotating.

Don't know how easy it will be to implement this feature... If it is not plausible then no worries.

It does look great and is more straightforward.... but it seems like it'll take away the ability to control the spotlight with the direction buttons... it's also one extra icon on the spotlight...

I don't think lots of people will have need for the feature I am suggesting, I think most people just use the spinner anyway... but I'm pretty sure they'll welcome it.. there really are some cases where I don't want to spin, I just want to watch what comes on, but if the spinner is there, I'll end up spinning... then on other hubs, I may want to spin but already switched off the spinner and will now have to reload... Not sure how common this scenario is... No pressure though, skin is already the best, any addition will only make it greater.

I see where you are coming from but I agree it is a very niche use of the spotlight, there are many better ways to pick what to watch in my opinion. The idea of having to reload the entire skin just to refresh a single spotlight so I can have something random to watch honestly doesn't make much sense to me and doesn't seem to be a logical use for the spotlight.

Personally my use-case for the spotlight is to have the skin be more vibrant, serving up pretty pictures of various randomised interesting content (usually trending stuff or my watchlist depending on the hub) while nothing else is playing at the moment.

So in my opinion having the spotlight autoscroll but you can also navigate back and forth as needed is ideal.
This implementation of buttons for the directions is interesting, will try it and provide feedback on how it feels. Ideally there would be no buttons and you could navigate the spotlight with arrow keys but I assume that would be tricky to implement as it is not fullscreen as in AH2.

I actually ended up deciding to stick with a spinner control but in the new style. So focusing the spinner and pressing up/down still scrolls through as it did previously.

I've removed the option to disable it entirely (well I didn't re-add a new option for the new one) -- but that's mostly because I'm still considering this request and I want to avoid implementing a setting that I might undo in a couple of versions if I decide to have a per hub option.

Noticed that... love all the changes you've made to the spotlight in this update... The smaller icons make it more visually appealing, and inclusion of the info is another nice one too, now people don't have to decide between info and menu. I feel like implementing that feature will be easier now that the option is no longer in setting (ergonomically that is, not sure how easy or difficult it will be coding wise) it could a toggle under "sort by" in the customize widgets section.. But then again, If you want to make the spinner a standard for all spotlight, I think the recent update with the smaller icons was definitely best move.
