Is it possible to return that feature back, and make it as an option to able/ disable it?
It really made things easier while it was available.

Sorry, no, it's not coming back. I want all the small sized side menus to not have any side icons. Only larger menus will have side icons.

You can add extra commands to the list below the tiles in
Skin Settings > Menus > Widget Customisation > Click Menu Icon

It shouldn't really make much difference to press down or to press left.

I know I have already set all other shortcuts back to main menu. ( Meant it for coreelec really)
I helped Translating to Arabic so I know the skin pretty well inside out from day one.
Thank you for great efforts put into the best skins.
