Kodi refresh after video end.

Evening J,
I know I've asked this before a few years back.
Although, just wondering if there is a 'hack' or something.
Kodi refreshing on video end and start is a nightmare, especially for those who use library, and random lists.
Watch a trailer after scrolling and then the whole skin reloads.
I know this is kodi core, but can anything be done about this? A setting, that it only refreshes on Skin Reload, or kodi start up?

I've also tried looking on kodi github and forum around this, but not to much avail.

Nope it's hard coded, so no way around it. And yes I agree, really annoying for trailers.

I know you're 'friendly' with kodi devs, do you know why at all? Just curious that's all.

It doesn't get around anything. All containers are refreshed whenever playback starts/stops.

If the container is sorted by random then it will be randomised when it refreshes.

Just because you don't see a busy spinner doesn't mean the container didn't refresh - it just means the skin didn't show the busy spinner when it was updating.

And just because the container shows the same content as before doesn't mean it didn't refresh. It just means that the plugin sent the same content back to kodi when the container refreshed. If it's the same content and not sorted by random, then it will appear the same - but it still refreshed

Thanks for the explanation Jurial, I really appreciate it. I don't personally use AutoWidget but I read about this on a different repo so they might be wrong about it.

I think there was a cool trick you used for home screen widgets when the Spotlight trailer starts/stops. You had a condition where the busy spinner only shows when IsUpdating AND NumItems = 0 are both true. And if the widget IsUpdating on the home screen but it has NumItems > 0 then it simply displays the old items until it finishes updating.

Probably the cleanest approach until there's a change from the Kodi side.

That's already how the skin works. It doesn't deal with the issue that the list ends up randomised and you lose your place in the list after playing a trailer if sorting by random.

Yeah I was appreciating your solution haha (not specifically talking about randomized lists). IMO that's currently the best implementation to workaround Kodi's limitations.
