Once a soldier has found a target. There is no way to cancel his attack and order him back. No matter how many times you click to move him back, he will basically always ignore the orders.

This is normal behaviour in Settlers IV but there is also ALT+move combination. Basically we hold 'ALT' key and command our soldiers to move then they are forced to move.
Otherwise there is no way to command a soldier to e.g. stop attacking an enemy soldier or tower.
That's Settlers IV, however in the Settlers III we can just command our soldiers to move and they stop fighting and go were we send them.
At the moment in the JSettlers soldiers don't do it as they do in original S3, even if they move away a bit, they come back in a very next second. It is in fact very annoying.
