Problem with SoX Resampler (only outputs mono)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Playback of audiofiles (tried WAV, AIF, FLAC) with SoX upsampling to any rate. 

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Playback should be stereo, but is in fact mono. The Core Audio resampler works 
as it should in any mode. 
Tested with 3 different audio interfaces (Built-In, MOTU Ultralite mk3, RME 
Fireface 800). Also tested all combinations of qualities and upsampling ratios 
etc., but I got always mono output with SoX resampler. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The Problem occurs in Audirvana Free 1.0. 
The old Version 0.9.5 works flawlessly with its both resamplers (Core Audio and 
SRC), as does Audirvana Plus (Demo).
MBP 13" early 2011, Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

Please provide any additional information below.
I wonder if I'm the only one with this quite strange but obvious problem.

According to this, I just experienced several crashes, when playing back 24/96 
and 24/88.2 files with SoX resampling 2x. The app terminated every time after 
about 8 seconds of playing time. 
Again, with Core Audio resampler no such issue. 

Appended is the debug info of audirvana (copied while playing, right before the 
crash occurs) and the apple crash log.
