Growatt MOD 5000TL3-XH with ShineRF Stick-X, grott alpha 3.0 - no data received #616

Configuraration:

Growatt MOD 5000TL3-XH
ShineRF Stick-X
grott Alpha 3.0, running on RPI5 (arch linux)
tested with "invtype = auto" and with "invtype =mod"
Growatt LAN box connected to port 4 of OpenWRT router, gets IP 192.168.1.136
via webinterface of LAN box, configured my RPI5 as host
communcation between inverter and LAN box is working (correct flashing of leds)
RPI5 connected to same OpenWRT router and has IP 192.168.1.15
MQTT server running on OpenWRT (192.168.1.1), also configured in grott.ini

Problem:

no (real) data is received from Growatt
I could not add the datalogger to my Growatt account (I removed it because I did not receive any data, and cannot add it back again 'datalogger already exists' can this be a reason that I don't get any data,?
I run 'tcpdump -i lan4' on OpenWRT to check data coming from Growatt LAN box; when I ping to the LAN box, or use the webinterface of the LAN box, tcpdump sees traffic

Hi, What do you want to achieve?

They way you configured grott, mode=server, passthrough=False (default), there will no data being sent to Growatt.

If you also want data being shown at the growatt server (shinephone) there are 2 ways (Or actually 3 but I do not actively promote sniffer mode anymore).

mode = proxy
Grott will "read" all data going to Growatt from your inverter/datalogger but the real communication path flows from your inverter to growatt. Grott will not change anything to the data.
An option is to specify blockcmd=True then Grott will block command comming from Growatt to "protect" your inverter.
mode = server
In this mode Grott (grottserver) will emulate the growatt server. The communication path flows from your inverter/datalogger to Grott.
If you specify passthrough=Yes the data will also being sent to Growatt, but everything is being sent back from growatt will be ignored.
In this way you can see the information about your installation (devices, graphics) at the Growatt website (and phone app).

My goal is just to see some data from the inverter; the data does not need to be sent to growatt servers.
But I don't get any data, and don't know why. The inverter is generating power.

Hmm strange. The datalogger sends a ping and grott react on that. But after that it becomes very quiet. I expect a announcement record from the inverter. Do you see the inverter/RF device in the Shinelink device screen?

Maybe stupid question. Your inverter is always on? Does it helps when you reset the inverter (power off/on)?

inverter is always on; I just cycled the power of the inverter. Connection between RFstick and ShineLANbox is up again (3rd led flashing in shineLanBOX), but still no data in you debug trace

It is very strange but there is no inverter data being send from your installation at this moement.

Can you see the inverter at the growatt website or in shinephone app? (Be aware Grott have to be in proxy mode to communicate with growatt).

no I have never been able te see data at the growatt server site. Therefore I deleted the datalogger (LANshineBox) from my account, and wanted to add it again This is however nog possible (error: "data logger already existed"). The my datalogger is not bound to my account.

This was one of the reasons to try your grott :). I hoped that your grott was able to communicatie with the datalogger and get the data from the invereter

In shinlink I also get the inverter id when in ormal operations mode. I do not see that in your screen shot.

No, I cannot re-add my data logger to my account; get error “already existed”. I opened ticket at installation partner Lumex, because monitoring via growatt website has never worked after installation. But they are closed till new year. I think your RF stick is not connected (configured correctly) with your shinelan box. I now read that you can force this manually.

Yes, I'm Dutch :). I have done this procedure more than 5 times. ANd the 3rd led on the LAN Box is pulsing every 3 seconds or so. So indicates that the connection with the inverter is OK.
I also moved the LANbox to another room (not far from the inverter), but with less other equipment close to the LAN box. This also had no effect.
I also tried to use another RF channel, also with no effect.
I just tried the hard reset of the LAN box (press for 7 seconds), and reboote the LANbox, And the first 2 leds are steady on, and the 3rd led is pulsing every 3 seconds; So it indicated that the connection with the inverter should be OK.
But still no joy.

I have already looked into a firmware upgrade, but couldn't find one online. The current firmware is 7.0.0.7. I think I have to wait til newyear, when the customer service is working again.
