Azure AD doesn't reckognize the app #1

After setting AZURE_AD_CLIENT_ID in bash, I get "AADSTS700016: Application with identifier "abc" was not found in the directory 'xyz'." I ran the Azure's Python example here and it seems to work. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the behavior of the two applications be almost the same?
