The status reports page on our development branch shows that some modules are incompatible with with Drupal 9.x. Things function just fine, so I think it just means we have some configuration in each of these modules that doesn't reference that the drupal core can be 8.x and 9x. Some things need to be tweaked and maybe a few modules should be updated.

The reference_value_pair code has some upstream updates that could be pulled in carefully.
