Is anyone hosting this on AWS?

Hello!

I am trying to host this bot for some friends. My plan was to set up an EC2 instance to do it because it has servers in Brazil and it might have lower latency.

Following the guide on the website, when I run 'nohup java -Dnogui=true -jar JMusicBot-X.Y.Z.jar &' on the EC2 instance it seems to download forever. Am I missing something? The guide says to wait for the 'Finished Downloading' message, but I am worried my EC2 is taking this long due to poor config.

Has anyone ever hosted this on AWS?

Don't use X.Y.Z, use the actual name of the jar you downloaded.

1. java command does not download jar file itself. You must download from releases page like this - wget https://github.com/jagrosh/MusicBot/releases/download/0.3.6/JMusicBot-0.3.6.jar -O JMusicBot-0.3.6.jar
2. There are no official guide that mentions Finished Downloading. You probably checked 3rd party site, which might be outdated or not correct. Please follow official guide(Installing Java and Setup Guide)

It's pretty easy.

1. Install Java sudo apt install default-jre
2. Connect to the AWS EC2 with PuTTY. You'll need to convert your Private Key File (you get one when you create an instance) to the .ppk
   format (use PuTTY Gen). Download and install WinSCP to upload your .jar and config files to the instance.
3. Open PuTTY, connect to your EC2 with ubuntu@YOUR_PUBLIC_DNS and execute sudo -b java -jar -Dnogui=true JMusicBot-X.Y.Z.jar where X.Y.Z are the version numbers. Done!

If you use windows you should use powershell and the ssh command.
