So, I've been using this amazing bot for around a year now, and as of today YouTube has blocked my IP Address... is there a workaround for this? I can't really use a VPN on this machine since it's hosting a gaming server at the moment, but perhaps I can appeal to YouTube? |

Sorry to hear that. I have to use a VPN to access YouTube because my country had blocked YouTube. I'm using PandaVPN if you want to know. |

So, YouTube upped the ante here and sent DMCA violation notices to my ISP... I'm not really sure how to proceed. I guess everyone should be aware this may happen to them. I've stopped streaming LoFi girl through YouTube, and legally downloaded the tracks instead. I'm hoping this solves the issue, as that was the only thing literally running 24-7. I don't know what else would have caught their attention... if I get more DMCA's, I suppose I'll report back here. I've not been under the impression that this bot was illegal in any way, but YouTube has become a cesspool as of late, and they ar heavily pushing ads on everyone. I guess they consider this sort of thing an affront to their business, and they are coming after the little guys to make examples. |

There have been several recommendations and anecdotes in other answers; I'm going to try to consolidate a bit of what was said along with a general answer to this question: With moderate/intermittent usage, JMusicBot is unlikely to draw a ban from YouTube. My copy has been running for years without this issue. There's a few things that you can do to decrease the amount of calls to YouTube, as well as improve its bandwidth usage:

parameter in the config file. There is rarely a reason for the bot to be playing music to an empty voice channel.
