You will actually need to run a Java edition server and add Bedrock compatibility plugins and then can add ViaVersion etc https://docker-minecraft-server.readthedocs.io/en/latest/misc/examples/#bedrock-compatible-server Otherwise "outdated client" can often be solved by checking the App Store / Play store for updates tot he client. |

Hello there,
firstly, sorry for my dump question, I am new to minecraft server "world" - father of a boy who wants to have his own server and play together with local friends! :)
I got ITZG Docker up and running on my Synology through Container Manager and Docker compose - it works like charm and thanks @itzg I will definitely send you some coffee ;)
However, now I wanted to test some of my sons clients and all I am getting is "outdated client" issue - I googled for some solutions and what I found was to use some plugins like ViaVersion/ViaBackwards etc... but I also found out that plugins are not supported on Vanilla servers so... I wonder whether you all always runs single/same version of server and all the clients (impossible for me in real life if I want sons friends from school to play there) or... am I missing something?
Is there a way to allow older clients to the server via some "feature"?
Thanks a lot
Jiri
