I have had this problem over many versions of tabutils lite and firefox. If I unselect all "Open new tabs for" options I cannot open a page using the address bar. I have reported this a number of times and have not seen a fix.
I am running firefox version 35.0 with tab utilities lite version 1.5.28.1 on a Mac OS X 10.9.5.
I am also using Classic theme restorer but I have found that the problem exists without that add-on.
