Consider wrapping as a formal python package #6

Right now, it looks like a fair amount of work is done to enable binaries and PATHs to be set correctly. If possible, it would be great to move this over to a formal python package installable via pip, for example. Doing so would probably eliminate the need for sudo privileges and would also allow multiple versions to be installed simultaneously (for dev, for example). I haven't looked through the code in enough detail to know why this would not be possible, so perhaps this is a naive request.

This is definitely on my to-do list. :) It's good to know that this would be considered useful, so I will make this a higher priority task to finish. Thanks for the feedback, and I'll update when it's finished.
