Instead it ought to tell you what's wrong and suggest you try logging in instead.

Can't replicate, I receive feedback that "A user is already registered with this email address."

Hmmm, interesting. @Scilly-guy I can reproduce it on the production server (carshare.ioscv.co.uk) - I wonder if something about production vs. dev server gives different results.
