It's possible that a git operation would change the production currently being viewed in the production configuration page. The production configuration page won't be refreshed unless "Permit Enabling Automatic Refresh of Management Portal Pages" (at Interoperability > Manage > Configuration > Interoperability Settings) is checked.
At minimum, we should document this flag. It might also make sense to automatically set it when git-source-control is enabled, because if it's not set it is likely/possible that a user could lose work.
