Contributing

License

PerfSpect is licensed under the terms in LICENSE. By contributing to the project, you agree to the license and copyright terms therein and release your contribution under these terms.

Significant Feature Additions

Plans for significant changes and/or additions must be raised and discussed with the project Maintainer(s) via GitHub Issues before work begins. If features require additional validation, e.g., support for additional architectures, a validation plan will be required. Finally, a named and committed maintainer for the additional functionality is required.

Extensions for other CPU architectures

Changes that extend the application's support to other CPU architectures should be contained in architecture-specific directories, e.g., cmd/metrics/resources/events/x86_64/GenuineIntel and AuthenticAMD. If additional changes are required outside these directories, please open a GitHub Issue to begin a discussion. As with Significant Feature Addtions, support for other CPUs will require committed validation by the contributor.

Sign your work

Please use the sign-off line at the end of the patch. Your signature certifies that you wrote the patch or otherwise have the right to pass it on as an open-source patch. The rules are pretty simple: if you can certify the below (from developercertificate.org):

Developer Certificate of Origin
