Point - signifies that hit test result was computed based on characteristic points found in user’s environment.

My passing understanding of WebXR approximates that of someone who is new to it. I'm not able to infer what you mean by 'characteristic points'. Please define this, or at least tell me what it is so that we can adequately document it.

I think you are referring to the sections of the spec that are marked as "unstable" - we could not get a consensus on how to best present the choice through the API and no browser vendor should be shipping those, so I think they could safely be omitted from the documentation until we come up with the right way to expose this configuration knob to the apps.
