Hi, all. I'm trying to up my memory in ImageJ (Edit > Options > Memory & Thread), but when I do, I'm getting an error message. It's saying that the directory is read-only, but I've tried running ImageJ in several different writeable directories (Desktop, Apps, Downloads, Docs) and I keep getting the same error. And I'm running as the system admin. I'm on MacOS Catalina 10.15.7.

Any suggestions?

The path to your ImageJ.app suggests you've been caught by Apple's path randomization "feature" on Mac OSX.

Copy your ImageJ installation into any user folder (or move it out of Applications and in again) and the issue should be gone.

Thanks so much for the reply! I have moved (not copied) the ImageJ app (and zip file used to install) from the Applications folder and into my Documents folder and attempted to change the memory allocation and received the same error. Then I moved it back from the Documents folder to the Applications folder, and am still getting the same error. Darn! Anything else I can try?

Huzzah. I just moved it to my desktop (rather than docs folder) and it worked!! Thanks so much for the guidance.
