So I will preface this with the fact that this is more of a Goal Tracking request than a habit tracking request.
My theory is that I have a new habit I would like to start (10000 steps a day) but like many goals, it is large and best broken into smaller incremental goals and habits to work my way towards my final goal.
(Take early morning walks a couple times a week. Take small walks intermittently throughout the day. Increase my step count in stages, etc. until I have built up the smaller habits to achieve my goal of creating my new habit).
Id love a way to end a goal/habit to move on to the next -> currently, my options that I see are to delete the old habit and lose the stats, start skipping to not affect stats and add a new habit, update the habit but then stats do not accurately reflect history, create a new goal and double log along with the old.
example: current goal is 5k steps a day, when I'm happy I'd like a new goal of 7.5k steps a day. I'd prefer to not have to log under both (obviously if I hit 7.5k then I hit 5k). I do not want to corrupt my past stats by changing the goal (stats might drop while I work towards the new goal) and I don't want to lose the old stats by deleting.
In my opinion, this would be easily resolved by having an end date on the goal/habit (or some way to mark it as old) without deleting it.
Then you could optionally have a feature to show or hide only active goals/habits vs. history.
Not only do I think this is applicable to goal tracking but I believe it is applicable to habit tracking as well because breaking things down for incremental improvement increases likelihood of success but also, people's habits and what they want to track changes over time but many people likely want to keep their stats so that they can reflect on their improvement over time. (For me it is a great motivator to keep up with my habits as well as to keep improving).
