Add grouping as additional method of displaying things

I did an extensive search across the board in regards to this repeatedly wanted feature. There are multiple discussions around it, but no holistic view from above.

This is what I try to achive this this yet again discussion on the same topic.

This is in regards to taking control of huge lists of habits (especially for the ADHD folk. It was talked about in #495 by iSoron:

• I want to create groups of habits so that I can better organize the list. For example, if I am not particularly interested in some group of habits right now, I could collapse that folder and focus on something else. Perhaps I could also move the folder, archive it or edit it more easily. Some users also suggest creating multiple lists of habits instead of folders, but the underlying problem seems to be the same -- they don't think the current interface is organized enough.

Apparently for some it is quite serious:

I'm ok with the habits all being calculated separately, I just would like to basically put habits in folders so I'm not scrolling through a long list. I could have a folder for health (floss teeth), one for symptoms (headache), one for improvement (learn a language, etc), etc.

+1 for this. I have... 80+ habits abd scrolling through all of them is a hassle. I could turn on the option to hide the completed habits but it is not always that useful, since sometimes I want to complete habits ahead of time or something else and etc.
For me only being able to have multiple views that I can easily filter the habits would be good enought. A solution that I thought about it would be:

1. add the option to name the colors
2. add an option to be able to change what colors are displayed easily
   - this could be done simply by swiping left and right or a drop down menu to select the color/category or even both

this would be just perfect for me but that is all I'm interested in.

I have ADHD; I have found Loop Habit Tracker very beneficial. However a list of (incomplete) habits becomes difficult for me to manage when more than about a dozen items are in the list at once. Therefore, my problem is best described (by @iSoron) as:

• I want to create groups of habits so that I can better organize the list.
  The solution proposed by @hiqua doesn't help for my case, because the issue is caused by the number of items in the list, not by the naming or ordering of the items. @ardydo's use case and requirements seem to match mine quite well (the number of habits I am currently tracking is much lower, but I would like to be able to track more than I do).

many great suggestions above.
my favorite one would be a very simple UI to group several tasks together >(only visually) so that I can clean up the space when tracking a specific part >and avoid having huge lists

Sport (Legday / Upper body / rest day)
Cleaning (home / car / )
Study (math / history / quarter exams)
Backup (laptop / phone / )
Self care (brush teeth morning / cut hair / shave )
That would look like :

I am with several users here. I would be happy to see a simple UI with Folders and subfolders. I can see the usefulness of calculations at the folder/subfolder level. But the UI change would be my main request.

I have about a thousand different habits. Their execution became impossible due to the constant monotonous scrolling up and down. Creating folders into which you can divide screens with habits by category (as in telegram) would make this application perfect.

Tags are great for organizing items, would be great to assign a tag to habits instead of colors. For example, all "health" related habits would have the same color that we assigned to health tag.

Add the ability to select a time-window per habit:

2. day specific - as optional multiple choice fields / so you could choose 5 times a week and weekday, or 5 times a week and Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
   

last but not least: adjust settings to show only entries

1. within a time-window
   
2. on the specific day (that is today)

Summary:

I believe I've successfully communicated my vision and the desires shared by several community members.
While I am not a developer, my intent is to contribute meaningfully to this project. I'm optimistic that with guidance, and perhaps leveraging GPT-4, we can realize these ideas. I would greatly appreciate any feedback or pointers from @iSoron and @hiqua to help advance this proposal. Thank you for considering my request.
