Love this app but forgot to back it up separately before getting a new phone, is all lost?

Had this on my S22 Ultra, and ran some flavor of Samsung's Smart Switch from my S8 Ultra tablet but as a side effect, I lost all my previously stored data. Tragic!

Anyway to recover this data or to keep it from happening again in the future? Would love a nightly google drive backup separate from the nightly backup, as having the backups didn't seem to help me last time. Don't want to lose out on all the good data going forward.
