migrating from the old u-root/qemu and u-root vmtest libs

Hi, I'm updating the dependencies on a project I work on in an effort to jump up to go 1.23 and I noticed that you moved the vmtest logic here and simultaneously changed the API quite significantly

is there a guide written for porting between the two?

My apologies, there is not. However, you can take some inspiration from the conversions I did here: u-root/u-root#2918 (some smaller things have changed since then as well, but that should be easier to figure out)
