Visualizing Images with More Than 6 Channels Simultaneously Using Avivator

I wonder if it's possible to support visualizing more than 6 channels. I have an image with a total of 17 channels, but I noticed avivator seems to only be able to display 6 channels at a time. Is there any possibility of relaxing this limitation?

@Nanguage Why do you want to visualize the channels all at once? I think part of the reasoning is that it's more code to maintain and visually, you don't really gain much (for example, which colors do you use when you go that high if you're trying to distinguish?)

Since we are trying to find and represent the regulations of many genes, such as genes with special spatial locations, we hope to choose the same or similar colors to represent certain genes (e.g., green/(lime green)/(apple green)/(army green)/(forest green), etc.) and another set of similar colors to represent other genes (e.g., red...).
It is undeniable that distinguishing each gene (color) might be challenging, but we can gather a lot of information (such as regulations) at first glance of the image. I believe that the limitation of only six channels restricts the overall representation. Therefore, I would greatly appreciate it if we could have more flexible channels and a wider range of color choices.

FWIW there are some things I'm considering experimenting with in layer-extension shaders that could benefit from the ability to load more channels at a time. Also, the way the shader code is structured makes it difficult to access channel data etc, so I'd be tempted to have a go at re-arranging some of that a bit.
