Brush is working different/worse than it used to

Hello, you'll see i don't usually use the Brush tool that much, but i sometimes create a pattern when needing texture/repeating the same a lot
I updated the app from a long time, and i noticed the Brush no longer respecting color value
I used to create black to white patterns that, when chosen a color (let's say red for example) , it would swap the brush's ones with the values (white goes red, gray goes dark red and black stays the same) but this is no longer the case, choosing red/white ir any color, just replaces everything (will attach photos of the brush in menu, how it used to look and how it looks now, also this happens with both, old and new patterns)
