Customizing the JDK does not work as described

Hiya--I understand from @joshwlewis that your "CNBs are equivalent or better than the classic counterpart" so wondered if I've strayed here. Your docs describe a method for customizing the JDK, but these docs are incongruent with the CNB builder. Do you suggest avoiding the CNB buildpacks since these do not show reproducibility? Or will your documentation be updated to reflect the operation of the CNB buildpack? Or will the CNB buildpacks be more equivalent to the Heroku-flavored buildpacks at some other point in time? Please advise.
