IDK anything about coding or programming so this page kinda makes no sense to me, but i used syt.hebron.wtf the other day and it was everything I've wanted from a youtube playlist client:

  • browser based (allows for chrome extensions in my use case)

  • actually shuffles full playlists of large quantity

  • media key support(all the other browser based options lack this and this is vital to me)

but the site only worked that one day and now is permanently sleepy, just wanted to say I miss it and hope this is working again and available to all the common folx eventually.

was kinda weird scrolling through a bunch of other people's playlists to get to the ones I added so is that why yall shut it down? idk ... sorry for sounding like a dummy

Hey @BatmanDrinkingLean , thanks for reaching out.
First of all - I'm really happy that you liked SYT!
And I'm really sorry that this issue caused you to miss out on your music.

I've fixed the issue temporarily (more on that below if you're interested) so you should be good to go now.
If you don't mind, I'd love to hear more about your experience using the app and how you stumbled on it!

Some additional background:

We found out where the issue was and rolled back the code that caused the issue.

It was caused by me attempting to upgrade some of the dependencies of the application - in all of the tests I ran it looked like everything worked fine but for some reason it caused the site to break. I was able to confirm that it worked after rolling my changes back.

I'll try to do the upgrade again later this month and I'll try to do it in a more controlled fashion so that if it breaks, I can catch it immediately instead of letting the site stay broken like that again.

hey, thank you for fixing the site with incredible haste, and detailed explanation. very cool. big respect from me 2 u.

I found this github page after being desperate for a way to listen to youtube playlists from my phone while being able to control both playback speed and pitch at an acceptable quality + also skip tracks with headphone/speaker/keyboard/remote controls (if only youtube.com itself didn't suck so bad with playlists).

I was using these websites 'shuffle playlist vercel' or 'smg youtube randomizer' which both do the same thing, and both lack media key controls for next and previous video. the vercel one has a github page and so I just decided to search "shuffle youtube playlist" here to see if i could find one I hadn't seen before and landed here.

the best option I found before this was pipepipe, and I really like pipepipe/newpipe but the pitch adjustment quality sounds awful, rendering only their local playback speed adjustment acceptable. On windows with equalizer APO & pitch vst's this is remedied and works well except that the only way
I know of using pipepipe on windows is bluestacks/ android emulators, none of which I've found to support media key input. eventually I bet they will offer support so that will likely be my desktop solution because pipepipe has a lot of good features relevant for an apk experience.

I'm almost certain pipepipe will never upgrade the quality of their pitch control, and there is no equivalent to equalizer apo & vst's for android to my knowledge. So to achieve what I want I must use a mobile browser with extension support.

as you can tell it took me a long time to go through all this shit only to mostly remain disappointed until now. thank you so much for creating this, as long as it works and the bulleted list I mentioned in the first post remains fulfilled I'll be using this on mobile.

here are some critical thoughts:

  • the fact that other people's playlists are in a list alongside mine is cool, I dig finding music from other user's created playlists so I like the social aspect of it, but what is gonna happen when the list gets bigger? You could always experience growth of your platform (I discovered this, was pleased and will probably stick around bc of what is offered in comparison to "competitors" lackings and maybe others will feel the same. i'm gonna gatekeep this from my friends for now bc i don't wanna scroll through their shit). could get annoying scrolling over time, I'm tempted to add more playlists but don't wanna overpopulate lol.

-I'm getting a lot of 'unavailable video' 'age restricted' 'sign in to confirm you're not a bot' grayscreen youtube messages on the embeded video(those videos wont play). for whatever reason this always happens to the first or first few videos after loading the site with desired playlist/s selected. I am signed in on the browser so ig it doesnt recognize that. sometimes, I believe in cases of unavailable videos, the player just skips those videos but in the other cases I mentioned the player gets stuck and wont allow for skipping via media key. it hasnt happened on a video in the middle of the playlist yet for me so idk if this is only an issue on the first few vids but will report back if it happens. I wanna use this while driving so it sucks to get stuck and have to open my device in that case. (after a bit more use this seems like it's only happening to me on kiwi browser on android so nvm as this being an issue)

  • I am happy that it seems to select randomly from my entire playlists some of which are thousands of vids long. is this actually the case? is it really shuffling randomly from the whole playlist? if not you've fooled me so it is random enough i suppose.

  • biggest gripe is that the queue is 200 videos long, I might never reach that if I start from the beginning, but its possible, so I couldn't leave this on overnight and have it still playing in the morning. refreshing the page is enough for my use case rn but the main thing those other websites I mentioned are good for are queuing up an entire playlist and scrolling through each entry quickly and easily.

been waiting to write an essay about these endeavors of mine so thanx for facilitating that here, if you read everything congrats on ur survival. its the early AM for me so this long winded shit felt reasonable

I'm curious what the reason for the creation of this tool is? many sites and youtube client applications exist similar to this. but all missed one or two of my desired features until now. apologies if the things I desire out of this service misalign with the intentions of it egregiously. ty again 👍
