Trying to keep it somewhat professional since the OpenNSM group is not just local and is getting
industry speakers and leaders

I would propose that there would be a black list of user names it would search for. The admin could add users names that he doesn't want this functionality to work for. That way we wouldn't have to kill all the fun for when 'stuffy' types aren't in the channel.

It defeats the purpose if a privileged user could look up things and its posted to channel since everyone in the channel would see the results.

No, you're not understanding me. The black list would suppress output completely if blacklisted names were in the channel.

Oh, okay you're right, that would solve the problem but it introduces new ones:
a.) Keeping the whitelist from public view (easy)
b.) Knowing who the people are that should be on the blacklist (I don't think this one is solvable)
People come and go and as the group gets more popular the IRC channel grows.

More trouble than it's worth in my opinion.

Agree with jon, not worth the effort. Alternatively, an opennsm-offtopic channel.
