Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

The codespan-reporting crate was last updated February 24, 2021. There was promising progress between January and February, including 4 commits by https://github.com/Johann150 and brendanzab/codespan#359 being opened, but Johann150 has not made any more updates since.

Describe the solution you'd like

Consider using https://crates.io/crates/annotate-snippets

Describe alternatives you've considered

The other alternatives listed on https://github.com/brendanzab/codespan?tab=readme-ov-file#alternatives-to-codespan-reporting, but they also have not been updated in ages.

Additional context

We bumped indicatif in ruffle-rs/ruffle#18582 and it duplicated unicode-width because of both this crate and the console crate using older versions. For the console crate, console-rs/console#224 exists.

I think colorization of spans in terminal and updating old transitive dependencies sounds great, in concept! There's a lot of little details that a transition like this can impose, and I think the best way to drive this forward is to demonstrate things are working in a draft PR.

This isn't a priority for anybody ATM, but I'll be happy to review a PR for this. 🙂
