  • units
  • discretization information

Considerations

  • Do we need to still separate vertex_fields and cell_fields or can we just put them both in fields and include discretization metadata as attributes? We can separate into vertex_fields and cell_fields when generating the Xdmf, etc if necessary.
  • Do we want to consolidate all output into a single file as well?
  • Checkpointing
