The ability to select, and copy text in comments can be useful for respomding to a single point in a post, asking for more clarification, or just copying a post to save for later. This would be useful not only on the Polycentric but also the base comments provided from the source website.
Proposal
I found a comment I wanted to talk about on BlueSky. It was a YouTube comment so I would not be able to respond to it directly. I went to try and select and copy the quote to make a discussion about it and found not matter what I did I could not select the text. I ended up having to screenshot and use an image text extract tool. The ability to select and copy text is a very basic feature any application or website should have for a multitude of reason. On desktop this is not normally as big of an issue because you can use the element inspector to grab text natively from the browser, this is not feasible on mobile clients, or applications. I believe this feature would help in a positive way in GrayJay, allowing for better discussion in comment sections.
