YouTube Blocks #1188
Comments
Same |
Same issue, using version 253 on android 12.. video doesn't play , screen goes blank after blocking notification 😣 |
Same issue here as well |
same |
To add to this, if the options "Use login for [channels/video details]" or "Provide YouTube activity" is enabled, the block shows up. I imagine there might be a missing header component in these requests. |
You sir/madam are a godsend thank you, this solved it for me |
Can confirm this also happens when logged out, in which case the settings mentioned by @b0Stark don't matter. |
Same on android 15. |
Youtube plugin version 188 has the same issue, Grayjay 253 release, Android 14. |
((found fix)) If you are Log in in grayjay with the YouTube Plugin you have the Problem If you Just Log Out you dont have the Problem |
How come this didn't work 4 hours ago? |
Oh right, it breaks the home loading on scroll. Dammit. |
Hmmmm Not all creators are on every platform, nearly all are on YouTube . Wouldnt mind if there was some kinda customer support, I'm ok with open source having no support when it's a 'nobody' in their bedroom. Really feeling scammed right now |
Signing out of the YouTube plugin after importing everything fixed the issue for me. It is now a non-issue for me but definitely still a problem. Yt support is the biggest part of greyjay and not being able to sign into YouTube in the app kind of defeats the purpose. |
I'm noticing several people saying signing out fixes it, but it was happening to me even though I've never signed in before. It did also stop on it's own recently despite not being updated recently, I don't know why. I'll be keeping an eye on what myself and the app are doing and report back if I notice any trends, but it seems to be an intermittent issue. (Personally I wouldn't rule out YT knowing how to id the grayjay client and just screwing with us) |
By the way, i remember youtube videos having rare stream-injected ads into grayjay before this whole issue happened. It may have a common cause. |
With the latest YouTube plugin version 190 released today it seemed to initially have fixed the issue for me. Now a toast notification at the beginning of the video says a block was detected and attempting to fallback to iOS. And after the 55-60 second mark nothing happens, no restart and the video keeps playing. I've tested three different videos now and they all worked. Hopefully others can test and verify functionality so the issue can be closed. |
Indeed it's fine now. @MediocreLemon please do check that and close the issue if it works for you too |
the blocking still sometimes happens when signed in, and signing out isn't a real solution as it means you miss out on a key feature of the app. |
Did you check the plugin updates manually just in case? I remember defaults being not to update it without asking. Just in case it matters - my settings of it in the order of appearance that are ON: All that reminds me that i have reinstalled it multiple times (the plugin) before it updated again. I've also multiple times have logged out without cache cleanup and logged back in. |
I'm logged in to Youtube via the plugin so I can see my personal list of videos to watch under "Home" and have yet to encounter the issue since I wrote it worked for me yesterday. Maybe log out of the plugin, uninstall it. Reinstall and log in again and see if it works as expected after that? @MediocreLemon |
Chipping in on this. Also happening on Android 13, Moto Edge 30 Pro. It will happen anywhere in a video - I notice it the most when on a long playback, since that gives it the most time to 'detect a block' and is the most annoying for me when watching/listening. |
every video i click on in youtube is like this today. i just updated the youtube plugin (version 194) "Use login for channels" is off "allow loginfallback" is on "use login for video details" is off "provide youtube activity" is off "allow age / controversial restricted" are both on "sponsorblock" is enabled every single youtube video i click on now says: "sign in to confirm you're not a bot (415). failed to load video" |
I have never logged in. Running default settings with Sponsorblock and YouTube Dislike enabled. I get this error on basically every video and it replays the video from the beginning in fallback mode. It then gets detected again shortly after. The app is totally unusable because of this. |
What happened?
after a recent plugin update, grayjay now shows a popup saying "YouTube block detected, bypassing" or similar. the video then starts playing fine, but 30 seconds in or so, the popup comes back, and the video restarts.
